1989 mercedes 560 sl is in excellent condition and drives perfect. This was the last year for the 560 sl having only one owner only adds to its value. 1986 mercedes-benz 560sl. I just had it serviced and the abs sensors were replaced. The clock works and so does the lighter even after 30 years. Classic ivory exterior color with brown leather interior. Body is straight and great paint. Only 92,000 plus miles. The car comes with a new hardtop caddy which is now apart in the trunk along with the original radio and cover for the hardtop. Mercedes got it all just right, offering essentially bullet-proof reliability, satisfying power, and aggressive good looks. The 560sl combined all that mercedes learned about the v-8 r107 chassis cars into a cultural icon that quietly and confidently told the world its occupants had "arrived. Recent maintenance/repairs:new batterynew bridgestone revo tires (all 4)transmission conductor plate (common issue)transmission connector (common issue)transmission fluid and filteroil changewiper motor (common issue)wiper blades (3)front and rear sam modules (common issue)air filterspollen filterknown issues remaining:rust in the passenger side b-pillar base, no penetration as of yet, currently touched up and fairly subtle. Immediate repair would not be required, very few people would even notice it. Left rear window regulator – already have a new regulator, just needs installeddoor lock actuators – right front and rear cargo door – these doors can be locked manually for nowfront left side marker led is not workingleft rear interior door handle is broken, outside handle still worksexterior: overall this is a very good looking g-wagen. The paint has a great shine with minor swirling and the usual rock chips up front, mirrors, and windshield. I believe the paint to be original as there are no obvious signs of paintwork like mask lines and the factory stickers inside the jambs are intact. Other than the rust noted there is no other rust, and the underside is dry as well. Wheels are in great shape with only minor chips and scratches, and brand new tires. There are a few areas where the rubber side molding has pulled away slightly from the body, this is common on the g-wagen and easily replaced if desired. Overall it is a very nice looking suv that shows signs of being driven, but not abused. It definitely gets noticed when driving down the road, more so than just about anything else i have owned. Interior: again, clean overall. The leather is soft and supple, recently treated with leatherique. No tears or other damage to the leather. There are small areas of wear throughout but overall it is much nicer than an average 100k vehicle. Floor mats show minor wear and fading but are clean overall, carpets underneath are very nice. Except for the items noted in the issues section above, everything works correctly. Mechanical: as i mentioned previously, this is a really great driver quality g-wagen. With the substantial amount of time and money that i have invested in maintenance and repairs it is ready to be enjoyed. The engine starts easily without smoke and runs smoothly, the transmission shifts perfectly without any driveline clunks or lash, the suspension is tight and rides well, brakes are strong without any vibration or noise, and the steering tracks straight without any pulling, vibration, or looseness. It has not leaked one drop on my garage floor. The transfer case shifts from high to low as it should without hanging up as sometimes happens with these. It can easily be used as a daily driver while the small issues noted above are sorted out. The driving experience is fantastic, it is smooth, stable, and surprisingly powerful, a very nice suv to drive. Needless to say it is unstoppable in snow, and while i have not tried it off road the g-wagen is legendary for its capability. Overall it is a very cool old-school suv that can be driven without any compromises. Title is clean, clear, and in hand.
